The FISH! philosophy
Attitude is everything! Breath life into all that you do... as educators it is our responsibility to seize the day and help inspire our students to enjoy life.
This company took what could have been one of the worse jobs to have, and made it into a great environment to work in. It has a few short rules....
1. Be present when at work focus on work, when talking to your students focus on your students, when talking to your parent really focus on your parent. Stop balancing your check book during silent reading time!
2. Have fun - learning doesn't have to be dull... create contests, have ways to give class praise (Kim Sutton of creative mathematics suggested playing 10 sec music clips to celebrate small student acheivements).
3. Make your day - live to the fullest
4. Choose your attitude - "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". by Eleanor Roosevelt. Like wise no one but you can MAKE you feel happy, sad, angry, etc. Choose to not sweat the small stuff.
